Bautista Mixe is an Oaxacan artist, born and raised in a tiny community nestled in the valleys within Sierra Mixe. During my week with Felix, he shared incredible stories from his people—the Mixe. One of the only indigenous ethnicities who survived the Spanish conquest. Culturally, they are one of the most preserved ethnicities still living in Mexico. You can see Bautista paint, from memory, his beautiful community Loma Linda throughout the course of several days.
Bautista's mission is to rescue and preserve all that is his culture and be part of the leaders who bring awareness and education to the world. Currently, he is embarking on the planning phase of an elaborate project code-named Rescuing the Eight Regions of Oaxaca.
